1/32nd scale dropship progress - page 5

I think it's safe to say that I've departed so far from the original kit that anything I've done isn't really relevant to anyone else with the same kit.

got some work done on the ramp. ramp side detail threaded brass inserts for securing the ramp hydraulics ramp front hinge Ramp v2. Didn't really need to make a new one but used it for testing new CNC mill. Old ramp was made from 16 separate pieces. New ramp only required 8 pieces on larger CNC machine.

cleaned up the ends of the 32 banshee missiles and made some small detail pieces for the tails. Been trying to find time to rebuild the horizontal tail fins for a while. layed out the 3D models for some of the parts I've built so far. See http://b26354.co.nz/ds_layout.jpg for full size image. If all you had was a fuselage, you'd still need all this. machined struts for the ramp.

These are the mounting points for the front ramp struts (based on the full sized DS). Made from 1mm styrene, acrylic and machined aluminium. They're quite small... machined the clevis' which hold the struts. They're 1/8" wide. more machined parts for the rear landing gear.

finished front ramp mounts. Screws are temporary - will machine new ones. New hydraulics for the rear gear. These are also based on the full sized DS. Another thing crossed off my list of parts to rebuild. Slightly longer and a bit sleeker. No original parts left in the tail

Before anyone complains that this doesn't look anything like the tail of the Halcyon - check the DSclub ref pics of the 1/12th scale miniature. Roughing out the bottom of the tail section (rear gear well) from 1" thick acrylic - sorry for crap cellphone pic.
